About the Role

The Music Teaching Assistant will support a lead teacher in delivering Music Explorer classes (ages 5-7) at the Costello Music School. The role will include supporting students as they work their way through the course - learning to read music, exploring instruments and singing in unison and as soloists.

The role will also develop into Arts Award support for our Y6 students (age 11) who are supporting the group as part of a leadership programme that we run alongside this course.

There will be potential to grow your own understanding of our music classes and progress to teaching classes independently through our CPD and additional courses with Trinity College London.

Requirements

We are seeking a music teaching assistant to help us deliver Music Explorer classes at the Costello Music School. The ideal candidate will have some experience with music teaching, reading music and be comfortable singing with the children.


As an assistant you will support the lead teacher in the delivery of classes with the potential to grow your own understanding of our music classes and progress to teaching classes independently.


A full DBS will be required, right to work in the UK and the ideal candidate with have teaching qualifications. The application to apply goes through requirements in more details.


You will need to be available every Wednesday during Term Time from 8am-8.45am at a primary school in Brentwood, Essex. There will be further oppotunities for work as the school continues to grow.

We now operate in 4 schools in the Brentwood and London area - teaching approx. 300 pupils. The school is going from strength to strength, looking to expand into more primary schools over the coming terms. We have also been awarded Arts Award Centre status, which will allow us to offer day courses in the Discover Award to primary schools and we will also be running a Summer School from 2024, so there will be plenty of opportunities for you to grow with the school and find your own niche within it.
